July in your apiary

  • Maintain regular weekly inspections and records.
  • Make sure your colonies are not short of food when you take off the honey.
  • Feed if necessary but avoid sugar syrup being stored in supers.
  • Continue weekly inspections and take swarm control measures if required
  • Continue collecting swarms
  • Continue monitoring for varroa and plan ahead for your treatment regime.
  • Write an article for NSBKA Beelines! All contributions gratefully received

The Association maintains an apiary at an organic farm in North Shropshire. We hold regular meetings at the apiary during the summer, where members old and new can gain experience in handling bees.
