The lecture on Swarming includes reasons why honeybees swarm, conditions leading to swarming and the precursors to swarming. This is followed by means to control swarming and some of the benefits of successful swarming management.
Julian Routh has kept bees for 43 years. After retiring from work as a chemical engineer in the water industry, he was a Seasonal Bee Inspector for eight years and was also elected a BBKA Trustee for six years. After this he returned to university to take an Entomology MSc. He is a BBKA correspondence course tutor and an assessor at all levels of practical exams. He lectures on and trains in beekeeping.
