Winter Varroa treatment was created by Sparky-74
Hi,

I just wondered
  • What is everyone's preferred winter Varroa treatment?

  • Also, how best to determine if one should treat, or that there is a requirement to treat?

Thanks

Marcus

Best to monitor natural mite drop over about a week in early December and treat if a standard full-size colony has more than about 2 mites dropping naturally day.
The BeeBase Varroa calculator or the Graph on P33 of .the NBU advisory leaflet 'Managing Varroa' from: www.nationalbeeunit.com/index.cfm?pageid=167 may help decision making.
If I treat in winter I use Api-Bioxal
